Baking up smiles together! 👩‍🍳❤️ Our residents had a wonderful time baking together in a special activity organized in collaboration with our Dietary and Recreation Teams. A little mixing, a little tasting, and lots of laughter made for a sweet and memorable day! 🧁✨

Spicing things up with Salsa Day! 🌶️💃🎶 Our residents enjoyed a fun-filled Salsa Day organized by our amazing Recreation Team. From great music and delicious flavours to laughter and wonderful company, it was a celebration full of smiles and good vibes! ❤️

here are some days you simply want to hold on to—and September 18 at Meighen Health Centre's LTC Engagement Day Ontario Long Term Care Association was one of them. 💛 All we wanted to do was capture every moment. MHC was filled with voices of joy, laughter, music, conversation and connection. Everywhere I looked, there was something beautiful happening—our residents smiling and participating, families sharing special moments, volunteers giving their time with so much heart, staff celebrating alongside them, and community partners connecting with the people who make our home so special. It was an honour to welcome MPP Stephanie Smyth and Councillor Josh Matlow to Meighen Health Centre. Having our elected representatives spend time with our residents, families, volunteers and staff—and help recognize members of our community through the certificate presentations—made the celebration even more meaningful. From the live music and resident art to the Tovertafel activities, community BBQ and recognition of our residents, family members and community contributors, the afternoon reminded us what long-term care is truly about: people, relationships, dignity, purpose and belonging. We were also grateful to welcome representatives from our emergency services Toronto Fire Services, Toronto Paramedic Services , Toronto Police Service and The Salvation Army, Toronto Grace Health Centre and our many community partners. But what stayed with me most were the little moments—the smiles, conversations, residents enjoying the music, families proudly standing beside their loved ones, volunteers connecting with residents, and our staff coming together to make the day special. https://canva.link/t2tc57h4sl9sqsh A building can provide care, but it is the residents, families, volunteers and staff within it who create a home. September 18 was a beautiful reminder of what can happen when a community comes together. My camera roll may be full, but somehow it still cannot capture everything that day felt like. 💛

We are thrilled to celebrate Katrina Mancenido, who represented Meighen Health Centre at the IPAC Canada National Conference 50th Anniversary (1976–2026) on May 25, 2026. Katrina presented our study, “Acceptability and Hand Hygiene Performance of Alcohol-Impregnated Hand Wipes for Residents in a Long-Term Care Home,” highlighting innovative ways to strengthen hand hygiene practices among residents. This work, in collaboration with the North Toronto IPAC Hub (Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre), reflects our ongoing commitment to creating a safer environment and enhancing infection prevention in long-term care. 👏 Congratulations to Katrina and our dedicated team for advancing resident care and infection control excellence!

We took time to recognize and celebrate our amazing Personal Support Workers (PSWs) — the heart of our care team and the foundation of the compassionate service we provide every day. 💙 To show our appreciation, we brought everyone together to enjoy food and refreshments as a small token of our gratitude for their dedication, kindness, and commitment to our residents. A special thank you to @tabulemiddleasterncuisine Group for their generous contribution of $50 gift card, and to the @seiuhealthcare providing refreshments and supporting this celebration. Your generosity helped make this recognition even more meaningful. To our PSWs: thank you for the care, dignity, and compassion you bring to your work each day. We truly appreciate everything you do.

MHC proudly celebrated Nursing & JHSC Week with a series of activities recognizing the dedication, compassion, and teamwork of our staff. The week began with Ice Cream Day and a gratitude activity, encouraging staff to appreciate one another. Nurses were honored on Tuesday for their vital contributions to resident care. Wednesday’s Wellness & Sports Day promoted fun and well-being, while Thursday’s Cultural Day celebrated the diversity of our team through food, attire, and music. The week wrapped up with a BBQ in the garden, bringing everyone together in celebration. It was a wonderful opportunity to recognize our staff and strengthen our sense of community.
